Public holiday ? ^^

When asked if authorities here would
declare a public holiday if Singapore
ends its 48-year-old Olympic medal
drought at the Beijing Games, Mr Oon said
that would help in building up the sporting spirit here

"I think Singaporeans need to
understand the power of sports, the
importance of sports to building national
pride, community bonding. So,
if we do win, by all means, I want
every sector celebrating. I want
people to recognise that this is something
of a historic milestone, and it
will not be the last. If we win
a medal, let's celebrate. If we don't
win a medal, let's celebrate our
athletes who've put in their best for Singapore."

this was in the radio on the 15th of aug
or something. but nobody bothered
to listen to the minister over the radio. haha.

yay which so means we might get
a public holiday as celebration for
our table tennis team getting into the finals! (:
lol my cousin told us the news
on sunday evening and everyone
started debating. but we wont
know yet until our olympic teams
return when the olympic ends
haha. yeah we might not get a holiday
too cos the minister didnt
said directly that he would declare a
holiday hahah.
what he said was ambiguous and
i bet he did that intentionally LOL.
